This weekend, Royalmont's 7th and 8th grade basketball teams played at the same time at the same venue, so there was a huge fan turn-out. After the 7th grade team won their game by a sizable margin, everyone came over to watch the exciting last moments of the 8th grade game. It was their second match-up against St. Columban, and the game remained close into the 4th quarter. Royalmont had the ball with the score tied 24-24 and less than one minute on the clock. Royalmont maintained possession and ran down the clock with the hope of making the game winning bucket right before time ran out. With 12 seconds to go, Royalmont called timeout to set-up their play. The ball was inbounded and Evan sunk a lay-up right before the buzzer! It was an exciting end to a very close game! In this photo, Royalmont's student fan section shows their support for their team!
As always, our PreK3 and PreK4 students started off the Christmas Concert, and they did a great job! Merry Christmas from Royalmont Academy!

One of our special traditions at Royalmont is celebrating "Las Posadas" at Christmas time. Each year two kindergartners are chosen to be Mary and Joseph and process into the auditorium while the whole student body sings the accompanying song in Spanish. After the procession and prayers, Mr. Ferraro offered a brief Christmas reflection about St. Francis and the first nativity scene. As he spoke, two live goats entered the auditorium and he held a real infant to represent baby Jesus. Merry Christmas from Royalmont! On Friday, we honored Our Lady of Guadalupe in a special way, since it was the feast of St. Juan Diego. Each student made a paper flower and, before our all-school Mass, made a procession to lay their flowers at Our Lady's feet. What a great way to live Advent! Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us today and always! Royalmont Academy is a private, Catholic school located northeast of Cincinnati - serving Mason, Loveland, West Chester, and South Lebanon.
At Morning Assembly this week, Royalmont's 7th grade CYO basketball team wanted to do something special to remember the first win in the school's basketball history. So, each player signed the game ball and presented it to Mr. Ferraro and Mr. Roalef. Thanks boys! What a great start to the season! This weekend, Royalmont made it's CYO basketball debut, and what a thrill it was!
The 7th grade boys played St. Margaret of York and took home their first victory of the season! The 8th grade boys battled St. Columban and, while they fell back in the last minutes of the game, they played some excellent ball.
It was incredible to see the team spirit and hard work displayed; both the 7th and 8th grade teams fought and played with a lot of heart. It was clear, however, that as much as each team wanted to win, they didn't lose sight of the fact that playing sports is a great way to witness to each other and to their opponents. If a teammate made a mistake or missed a shot, the boys were quick to offer a pat on the back or encouraging word. When an RA player went diving for the ball against his opponent, he jumped up and offered the other player a hand to get him back on his feet.
The photos above feature the 8th grade's game against St. Columban. There was a huge turn out of support for our teams, and boy were our fans loud! Even Royalmont families who didn't even have a boy playing came out to show their support.
Great job, boys! This is sure to be an exciting season, so stay tuned for more updates.

We were honored to have a very special guest at school yesterday: Bishop Joseph Binzer. When Royalmont was accepted as a school of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Bishop Binzer (then chancelor of the archdiocese) served as a kind and helpful voice, freely offering his wise council throughout the process. Our school has been blessed by his friendship over the years, and so it was with great joy that we received the news of his appointment as auxiliary bishop.
Bishop Binzer celebrated First Friday Mass for the whole school, parents, and benefactors, with Fr. Robert DeCesare LC, Fr. Matthew VanSchmoorenburg LC, and Fr. Matthew Summe LC con-celebrating. As always, students participated in the Mass in so many ways: by serving as altar servers, proclaiming the readings and petitions, and by leading the faithful in song. We are so thankful to Bishop Binzer for being with us and bringing us closer to Christ in the Mass.
After Mass, Bishop Binzer spent time visiting some classrooms. Each class had a little something ready for him to say thank you. Some offered homemade cards and spiritual bouquets. One 1st grade class connected their desks, creating a giant table and saved the head of the table, the place of honor, for Bishop Binzer, who sat with them enjoying their conversation and the cookies they offered. Meanwhile, the Upper School prepared a reception in the auditorium, prayed with him and enjoyed a delicious cake.
Thank you, Bishop Binzer, for visiting our school! You are in our prayers!

Happy Thanksgiving from Royalmont Academy! We hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving.
Families and communities share many holiday traditions during Thanksgiving and Christmas, so we wanted to share one of Royalmont's Thanksgiving traditions: Super Turkeys! From a simple posterboard frame, students create their very own Super Turkey according to a theme of their choosing. Students work independently or with a small group of their classmates to make their vision come to life. Combining imagination, creativity, and hardwork, they make costumes and props for their turkeys, and some even create elaborate backdrops.
In the days leading up to Thanksgiving break, Super Turkeys are displayed in the halls of the schools for students, staff, and parents to admire. The final products are impressive and pretty hilarious at times. When all the projects are completed, the Super Turkeys are judged in a school-wide contest and winners are chosen for each grade.

Leo Haenni, a 2009 graduate of Royalmont Academy, recently received honors for his efforts on Bishop Fenwick High School's varsity football team. Leo has been selected as a member of the Greater Catholic League North First Team All-Stars and for the second team Division IV District All-Stars. Congratulations, Leo!
Royalmont kindergartners recently enjoyed a field trip to Sunrock Farm. While down on the farm, they got to participate in plenty of outdoor activities and meet several farm animals. They got to hold baby chickens, brush a pony's mane, and even milk a goat.
