This afternoon at Mass, we were blessed to welcome Fr. Tony Tozzi from St. Susanna's as our celebrant. At the end of Mass, he blessed our 6th graders' Bibles. Each year the 6th grade class receives Bibles that they use in Religion Class through their remaining three years at Royalmont.
Today is St. Jerome's feast day, which was fitting for such a blessing, since one of the things St. Jerome is most known for is his translation of sacred scripture from Greek into Latin. Thank you, Fr. Tony, for saying Mass for us and for imparting this special blessing!

We've had so much traffic coming through the Royalmont Car Wash today, including Royalmont parent and Mason police officer, Sergeant Matt Hayes. Sgt. Hayes brought his Mason police cruiser for a good scrub this morning. His cruiser is actually a canine unit and police dog, Zicco, was in the back seat. Check back to royalmont.com for a full video of today's car wash.
Our PreK-4 students enjoyed a special treat this morning when Mr. Ferraro gave them a surprise shower of bubbles. A bubble machine was secured on the ceiling of the auditorium for this morning's Car Wash Dance during Morning Assembly. Our PreK students do not attend Morning Assembly, and didn't get the chance to experience the fun. So Mr. Ferraro saw to it that they got to see the bubble machine in action. He had them sit in a circle on the floor right below the bubble machine and close their eyes. When he said "Open," there were hundreds of bubbles falling down upon them! Excitement would be an understatement!

This morning, Royalmont 5th and 8th graders got our student body pumped up for our September Apostolic Project: a Free Community Car Wash! The Car Wash Dance is an annual tradition typically hosted by 5th grade Formator, Mr. Schlotman, and his class, but this year's pep rally had a new Motown feel thanks to 8th grade Formator, Miss Brown, and her 8th grade class. Let's just say there were afro wigs, peace signs, costumes, and a VW Bug - ENJOY!
This Apostolic Project is a favorite among the students, and not only because they get to be out of uniform and get a little wet, but because it's an opportunity to serve others. Each Formator works with their class to help them understand the purpose of the project: to offer a service to the community out of love, free-of-charge and expecting nothing in return.
If you're in the Mason area tomorrow, stop by Royalmont for a FREE car wash!

Today, we celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary...aka: our Mother Mary's birthday. September 8th falls exactly 9 months after the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which celebrates the special grace that Mary received to be free from all sin from the moment of her conception.
To celebrate this special day, each class at Royalmont received a delicious treat which awaited them in our lobby near our statue of Mary. Each class made a visit to Mary at some point to pray a Hail Mary, sing happy birthday, or song a Marian song, and then they enjoyed Mary's birthday treat.
It's a tradition at Royalmont for students to bring in treats for their birthday. Each child really looks forward to this because, not only do they get to share a treat with their class, but they bring enough for all the Formators as well and get to pick a friend go around with them to deliver the goodies.
We continue this tradition on Mary's birthday, of course. Today, all of the students named "Mary" got to pass out birthday treats to the Formators. In this photo, Mr. Ferraro stands in front of the Mary statue with Mary Clare, Mary W, Mary B, Mary C, Mary Catherine, and Maria.
Happy Birthday, Mary! Thank you for your motherly love and protection.

Blue Cards are awarded to deserving students a few times a week for an outstanding act of charity toward another person, particular growth in a virtue, or other positive trait. Take a minute to watch this clip of Mrs. Heyob presenting Blue Cards to two students who are new to Royalmont this year: Maria and Reina.
